Meet and Greet – arrival day
You will be collected at your Johannesburg hotel/airport and transferred by our preferred private road transfer to Berg-en-Dal. After meeting the team and settling into your cottage you will get onto our open-sided safari game viewing vehicle for your first game drive with Neil.
Berg-en-Dal (restcamp/south western Kruger) (3 nights)
Berg-en-Dal means ‘mountain and dale’ aptly named for its superb location. Great care has been taken to preserve the natural vegetation in the camp area, which comprises Malelane Mountain Bushveld (woodland), attracting a variety of grazers. The area hosts white rhino, kudu, impala, giraffe, elephant, reedbuck, klipspringer, grey rhebok and warthog.
Leopard and wild dog are regularly seen in the region. Bird watchers will find the appeal of Berg-en-Dal Restcamp irresistible as a wide variety of birds species can be seen here.
Skukuza (restcamp/south western Kruger) (2 nights)
Skukuza restcamp is named after the Tsonga name for James Stevenson-Hamilton, the first warden of the park. Literally translated it means ‘he who sweeps clean’, a reference to his removal of all the local people to make way for the establishment of the Park. The Stevenson-Hamilton Memorial Museum houses many interesting artifacts – very well known is the knife ranger Harry Wolhuter used to single-handedly slay a Lion and save his own life. Skukuza is the Kruger National Park’s largest rest camp and is situated on the southern banks of the Sabie River. Skukuza Restcamp is home to some interesting birds and amazing plant life.
Biyamiti Private Bushveld Lodge (private bushveld lodge/south eastern Kruger)
Nestled on the banks of the Biyamiti river, this private bushveld lodge plays host to some of the biggest buffalo herds in the Kruger. Elephants, lion and leopard are frequent visitors to the water pools in front of the lodge, as well as rhino (both white and black rhino) and hyena. Our game drives meander in and out of the river system, up and down rolling hills, and through the mixed thornveld and riverine areas of the Crocodile River.
In all locations Neil and his chef stay close by and host your mealtimes out of their cottage.
