Meet and Greet – arrival day
You will be collected from Nelspruit airport and transferred by our preferred private road transfer to Skukuza. After settling into your cottage, you will get onto our open-sided safari game viewing vehicle for your first gamedrive.
Skukuza (restcamp/central Kruger)
Skukuza restcamp is named after the Tsonga name for James Stevenson-Hamilton, the first warden of the park. Literally translated it means ‘he who sweeps clean’, a reference to his removal of all the local people to make way for the establishment of the Park. The Stevenson-Hamilton Memorial Museum houses many interesting artifacts – very well known is the knife ranger Harry Wolhuter used to single-handedly slay a Lion and save his own life.
Accommodation consists of a serviced (fresh linen and towels) private en-suite cottage that sleeps two people.
Berg-en-Dal (restcamp/south western Kruger)
Accommodation is a private en-suite one-bedroomed unit under thatch (includes fresh linen and towels plus fridge freezer) that sleeps two people close to the camp’s perimeter fence where animals are often seen walking in the dry river to bed towards the dam.
Berg-en-Dal means ‘mountain and dale’ aptly named for its superb location. Great care has been taken to preserve the natural vegetation in the camp area, which comprises Malelane Mountain Bushveld (woodland), attracting a variety of grazers. The area hosts white rhino, kudu, impala, giraffe, elephant, reedbuck, klipspringer, grey rhebok and warthog. Leopard and wild dog are regularly seen in the region. Bird watchers will find the appeal of Berg-en-Dal restcamp irresistible as a wide variety of birds species can be seen here.
